Word Quest ("the App", "we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our mobile application.
Word Quest does not collect any personally identifiable information (PII). Most game data is stored locally on your device using SharedPreferences. Additionally, anonymous leaderboard data is transmitted to Firebase servers as described in Section 2.
We use Firebase for anonymous authentication and Firestore for the daily puzzle leaderboard. Firebase anonymous auth generates a random identifier that is not linked to your personal identity. For the daily leaderboard, we store your chosen display name (if provided), your puzzle completion time, and your anonymous identifier. This data is processed by Firebase (Google LLC) and may be stored on servers located outside the European Economic Area. Google's data transfer mechanisms comply with applicable data protection laws.
Daily leaderboard entries are retained indefinitely. Your anonymous account can be removed by deleting your local data (see Section 9).

Word Quest does not display any advertisements. There are no ads, no ad networks, and no ad tracking of any kind. We do not use Google AdMob or any other advertising SDK. We do not request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission because there is nothing to track.
Word Quest does not use Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, or any other third-party analytics service. We do not track your behavior, screen views, or usage patterns.
Word Quest is completely free. There are no in-app purchases of any kind. We do not collect, store, or have access to any payment information.
Word Quest is intended for users aged 12 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Firebase anonymous authentication does not collect names, email addresses, or device identifiers. The anonymous UID cannot be used to identify a specific child. If we become aware that a user under 13 has submitted data through the leaderboard feature, we will promptly delete that data. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to remove such information.

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to know what personal data is collected and to request its deletion. We collect anonymous identifiers and gameplay data (puzzle completion times, display names) for leaderboard functionality, processed by Firebase (Google). This data is not sold or shared with other third parties. We do not sell personal data to any third parties.
Local data: You can delete all locally stored game data at any time by navigating to Settings > Delete All Data within the App. This will permanently remove all game progress, scores, preferences, and hint balances from your device. This action cannot be undone.
Server data: Deleting local data also signs out your anonymous Firebase account, which removes your ability to be identified on the leaderboard. To request complete deletion of server-side leaderboard entries, contact us at sendtoichime@gmail.com.
Local game data is protected by your device's own security measures (passcode, biometrics, encryption). Leaderboard data transmitted to Firebase is encrypted in transit using TLS and stored securely on Google's infrastructure. We do not store sensitive personal information on any server.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
